Understanding Government Fundin
Helping parents understand how nursery funding works
Government funding is a valuable contribution towards your child’s early education. However, it is important to understand that Government funding does not cover the full cost of delivering a nursery place.
The funding is intended to contribute towards your child’s education and learning. It does not fully cover many of the costs involved in providing a high-quality childcare environment.
Government funding
supports education.
We invest in
everything else.
Government funding does not fully cover:
Freshly prepared meals & snacks
Qualified chefs preparing food every day
Arts & crafts and
creative resources
Music sessions
PE classes
Outdoor learning
Mud kitchens and messy play experiences
Learning resources and educational equipment
Wipes, tissues and daily consumables
Cleaning products
and hygiene supplies
Highly qualified
practitioners caring for your
child throughout
the day
Small group care,
nurturing relationships
and emotional
wellbeing
Safe, secure
and stimulating
environments
What makes Moonlight different?
At Moonlight Nursery & Pre-School we believe children deserve far more than the minimum requirements.
We choose to provide rich learning experiences every day, including sensory play, messy play, outdoor adventures, creative learning, music, movement, PE classes and freshly prepared nutritious meals.
Many of these experiences go beyond what Government funding contributes towards, but we believe they are essential in creating a stimulating, inspiring and memorable childhood.
Our Funding Model
As an independent private nursery, Moonlight Nursery carefully reviews its funding model to ensure it remains sustainable while continuing to provide exceptional education and care.
Our funding arrangements are designed to balance:
high-quality childcare
experienced practitioners
enriching learning experiences
nutritious freshly prepared meals
financial sustainability for the nursery
This enables us to continue investing in our environment. resources and staff while maintaining the high standards families expect.
Future Changes
Government funding arrangements, legislation and operational costs can change over time.
For this reason, Moonlight Nursery reserves the right to review, amend or withdraw its funding model where necessary.
This may include changes to:
the way funded hours are offered
funded session structures
consumables contributions
booking arrangements
availability of funded-only places
Any changes will always be communicated clearly, with a minimum of four weeks’ written notice.
Our Promise to Families
Every decision we make is guided by one simple principle: To provide outstanding care and education while ensuring the long-term sustainability of Moonlight Nursery for both current and future families.
Further Information
Important Details for Families
Our aim is to ensure complete clarity around our fees, contracts and processes, so you can feel confident and informed every step of the way.
Contracts & Bookings
All bookings are subject to Moonlight Nursery & Pre School’s Terms and Conditions, which form part of your childcare contract.
By accepting a place, you agree to our current Terms and Conditions, Policies and Fee Structure.
These may be reviewed from time to time, and the latest versions are always available upon request.
Monthly Fee Calculations
Moonlight Nursery does not stretch government funding across the year. Instead, funded hours are applied in full during the 38 funded weeks.
This means:
During funded weeks, your invoice reflects your funded entitlement.
During half terms and school holidays, your registered days are charged privately.
Because of this, your monthly invoice may vary depending on:
the number of registered days in that month
whether the month includes school holidays or half term
the number of funded weeks within that calendar month
This ensures families receive their full government-funded entitlement each funded week rather than a reduced allocation throughout the year.
Registered Days
Monthly invoices are based on your child’s registered days, not attendance. Fees remain payable if your child is absent due to illness, holidays or any other reason.
Deposits
Deposits are deducted from your first invoice and secure your child’s place until their agreed start date.
Notice Period
We require four weeks’ written notice for:
reducing sessions
increasing sessions (subject to availability)
leaving the nursery
Additional Sessions
Extra sessions may be booked subject to availability and are charged at the current daily rate.Extra sessions may be booked subject to availability and are charged at the current daily rate.
